Dear Fiddian,
I have your letter of November 16th regarding the
vacant post of Government Bacteriologist, Hong Kong, and Kinett'6
application regarding it.
With reference to his suitability for the appointment,
I would say that so far as energy and devotion to duty are concerned,
I think he would do excellently well. He has a good knowledge of
bacteriology and, indeed, as you know, has published work on the
subject. The only matter regarding which I have any doubt is the
pathological work. At one time I believe Kinett was a good deal
concerned with pathological questions, and I have a copy of a
testimonial in which his qualifications as a pathologist are
specially mentioned. Furthermore, in 1911 he published a paper
on three unusual post mortems, showing that he was still keeping
up his interest in the subject; while in 1906 he won the prize of
the Pathological Society, Guy's Hospital, Hence I think there can
be no doubt he was well grounded in pathology, though of course his
